LATEST IMMIGRATION NEWS
🪙 As of 1 July 2025, visa application charges have increased for most visa types. While most increased by 3%, the Student (subclass 500) and Student Guardian (subclass 590) visas experienced a more significant fee hike, increasing from $1,600 to $2,000 for primary applicants. You can read our blog post here for a breakdown of the changes for some of the most common visa types.
📈 The indexation of skilled visa income thresholds has now taken effect, increasing the Core Skills Income Threshold to $76,515 per annum and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold to $141,210 per annum.
📰 Registrations of Interest for South Australia nomination for the National Innovation Expression of Interest (EOI) have now opened. The EOI process for the NIV sets out four priority groups that the Department will consider in issuing invitations to apply for the visa. “Priority Group 2” captures candidates who have been nominated “by an expert Australian Commonwealth, State or Territory Government“. Alyse Lee - Promoted to Associate
Since joining Hannan Tew in November last year, Alyse has quickly established
herself as a highly regarded corporate immigration lawyer. Primarily advising and assisting Hannan Tew’s largest client, she is most effective when handling employer sponsored visas, associated merits review applications at the Administrative Review Tribunal, and the National Innovation visa. Alyse’s efficiency and project management skills regularly receive positive client feedback, and clients can expect best in class immigration advisory when they have her on their team.
Lucie Coleman - Promoted to Practice Manager
Lucie joined Hannan Tew as our very first Admin Coordinator and one of our earliest employees. She has contributed immensely to ensuring that our systems, operations and processes are utilising the latest tech stacks safely. In addition to her technical knowledge and knack for improving all things, she leads a vibrant administrative team who ensure that our lawyers are able to operate effectively.
Kristina May Lacson - Promoted to Administrative Team Lead
May has played a key role in the daily operations of the firm since joining Hannan Tew in 2023. Working behind the scenes, she coordinates our day-to-day admin operations and supports the team to maintain smooth workflows and high-quality service. In addition to her technical skills, her proactive mindset and infectious optimism energise the whole team.
Together, they bring a diverse range of skills and perspectives that each make their mark on the Hannan Tew team, helping us continue to deliver exceptional immigration law services to our clients.

Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) Visa Document Checklist
The Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) visa is a points-tested application which can lead directly to permanent residence. Although anyone can submit an expression of interest through SkillSelect, it is an invitation only application where an Australian State/Territory need to agree to nominate you for the visa.
